INDOOR CRICKET: Medite Ipswich stormed back to the top of the National League following an impressive 185-run victory at Nottingham on Saturday. Nottingham won the toss and put the visitors into bat.

Sean and Russell Ongers opened for Medite Ipswich and following four very solid overs of batting, the score was on 50.

Gavin Driver and Chris Norton continued the good work, adding 41 runs to the Medite Ipswich score.

Mark Smith and debutant Chris Chittock then put on a partnership of 32 to put the visitors firmly in control with one partnership remaining.

Mike Pitman and Michael Edmond finished the innings off scoring 53 runs without conceding a wicket as the Medite Ipswich score progressed to an unbeatable 176.

The visitors then set about their hosts with some ease with Chris Norton (two wickets) and Sean Ongers (six wickets) destroying the opening pair and Nottingham floundered to -6.

With Medite Ipswich in devastating form, the second pair could not add any runs. Chris Chittock (three wickets), Michael Edmond and Mike Pitman (two apiece) did the damage this time.

Nottingham sent their most experience paring in third in an attempt to secure a point but to no avail, Edmond (three wickets) and Smith (four) this time causing the damage as Nottingham were reduced to -19 with one partnership to bat.

Medite Ipswich eased up on the pressure and allowed the final batsmen to score a partnership of 10, Norton once again getting amongst the wickets.

The hosts had been given a real lesson in indoor cricket as Medite Ipswich showed why they are the top team.

Manager, Brian Barnard said afterwards "This is as good a performance as you are likely to see.

"We dominated the match from start to finish and now have to repeat this against both Cradley and Stumps"

THE Ipswich Warlocks masters side returned to winning ways against Wilford Wolves, a side that they had trounced at home earlier on in the season.

The Warlocks batted first with Nigel Parmenter and Mark Henson scoring an impressive 43 runs.

Mark Storey and Nigel Mellish then added 23 to put the visitors on 66 at the halfway stage.

Steve Bulger and John Lennard then added 28 before Simon Fielding and Dave Miller scored 29 to put the visitors in control of this match.

Wilford Wolves, chasing 123 runs, were never really in the hunt as the Warlocks found the form in the field that had been missing the last couple of games. They restricted their hosts to just 83 runs in reply.

Pick of the bowlers were Parmenter (-5) and Fielding (6).

Result: Ipswich Warlocks 123 Wilford Wolves 83.

BOTH of the Ladies sides were up against Nottingham Angels sides who included several international players returning from India to strengthen an already formidable line-up.

DVR Ipswich Ladies, missing Marilyn Wilson and Tracey Hamblin, won the toss and elected to put their hosts in.

Nottingham showed their class from the off and amassed a formidable total of 192.

Pick of the DVR Ipswich bowlers were Tracy Curtis (9) and Roxanne White (16).

The visitors then set about restoring respectability to the scoreline and were given a boost when Julie Dye and White put on an impressive 39 for the first partnership.

Pat Barnes and Theresa Abbott then found the going tough and at the halfway stage DVR Ipswich were on 43.

Cathy Chittock and Sarah Willis batted well and added 28 to the score before Joanna Abbott and Curtis (8) finished the innings off.

THE Ipswich Vixens also suffered at the hands of the Nottingham.

The hosts scored freely with the bat throughout with Tracy Lennard only really making any headway with the ball, going for -4 for her two overs.

Inspite of this Nottingham still managed a hefty 224 run score.

In reply Elain Bulger and Gill Morris batted outstandingly to score 44 before Nottingham stepped up a gear and by the time the final pair of Lennard and Jess Fletcher went to the crease the visitors score had been reduced to just 17.

Result: Nottingham Angels 224 Ipswich Vixens 35
