GARY Nunn admits that he will stay on as Haughley United manager if the Metaltec SIL fail to attract a suitable replacement.
Taking a break from preparing his side for tomorrow's crunch game with fellow championship challengers Grundisburgh, Nunn said:
"Apart from two years I have been running Haughley first team since 14 seasons. I just have too many commitments and Monday night is the only one I have at home.
"But I enjoy the job, and could well stay on if the current advertisement fails to produce a replacement."
Richard Friend, who runs the team jointly with Nun, is also offering to stand down. Nunn says that he still fancies Grundisburgh to pip favourites Walsham-le-Willows for the title and talks down his own side's chances.
But he did say: "If we win tomorrow it might be a different matter. We have not lost in the SIL since we played Stonham Aspal last November and certainly cannot be written off.
"Grundisburgh thrashed us 6-0 earlier this season in the Suffolk Senior Cup when we had our keeper sent off, but they cannot be happy with a draw against Stonham last week and a defeat at Capel Plough seven days earlier."
Nunn led Haughley to the title in 1997 and he is waiting on experienced midfield man David Thompson for tomorrow's game. Thompson has been on holiday this week.
Walsham surprisingly have no game.
