Pilborough lobbed Bloomfield early on to put Newton into the lead and they went further ahead one minute later when Bloomfield and Clark collided and the ball rolled into the net.

Saints pushed forward and two easy chances were missed.

Saints pressed hard at the start of the second half and had a great chance but the Newton keeper grabbed the ball at the second attempt.

Smith drove well over the bar before home keeper Bloomfield saved well from Collins.

Starling for Saints put a great ball into the area and Pilkington ran on to score. Play was end to end with both sides forcing corner after corner.

Saints pushed hard for the equaliser, but in the last seconds Clark forced the ball into the net to put Newton further ahead.
