The Kesgrave parkrun continues to attract bumper fields, and last Saturday was no exception as exactly 400 runners, joggers and walkers covered the weekly 5K challenge from Millennium Jubilee Hall.
This was the 184th staging of the Kesgrave event, which boasts a record field of 456, and whose weekly average is gradually creeping up – the current weekly average now stands at 274.
Jayne Chappels was the first female finisher home in 20mins 53secs, followed by Hadleigh Hares’ Emma Mortimer, who clocked 21:56 in second. She has a personal best of 19:41.
Third spot went to Rose Mortimer (22:03), who is in the 18-19 year-old age group.
At the head of the field, three of the top four all notched PBs, in the shape of Stuart Wright (17:47), Austin Vidal-Cocker (17:50) and Joss Mowforth (18:14).
There were many parkrun first-timers, including Alex McCarthy, Andrew Howells, Sam Browes, Simon Hindmarsh, Fran Abrams, Andrew Nairn, Amelie Barrow, Isobel Everitt and Andrew Gooch.
