Orwell 1 LONG SUTTON 0

On a day when the conditions were more suited to the spectators than the players, Orwell made hard work of their win over Long Sutton in Division Two North of the Printwize East League.

Midway through the first half, Orwell took the lead from a penalty corner fired home by Petrina Theobald. Although Long Sutton never looked threatening with their final shots, their approach play highlighted the inability of Orwell to dominate the midfield areas, which was in part due to the absence of Nicky Keely.

Orwell played better in the second half and had the opportunity to make the points safe when a penalty stroke was awarded for a rash challenge on Katy Miller. However, Amanda Little, returning to the first XI after the birth of her baby, saw the Long Sutton keeper dive well to deny her.

A fine save by stand-in keeper Tory Spencer ten minutes from time made sure Orwell won their second successive game and extended their unbeaten run to three matches.
