IPSWICH Town suffered their second double beating of the Championship season when they lost to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday. West Brom achieved the feat at the end of December.

Town are still to score a goal away from home in 2007, and failed to find the net when the better side in the opening half hour.

When Leon Cort headed a 33rd minute goal, Ipswich lost their control, and Paul Ifill confirmed the points for the home side in the 52nd minute.

Tom Soares, who scored an own goal in this fixture last season, was sent off after 73 minutes for a heavy challenge that left Dan Harding on the floor and needing attention.

There was an FA Cup blow for Town when leading scorer Alan Lee was shown his tenth yellow card of the season after 79 minutes. He will now miss the fifth round tie at Watford - as well as next Saturday's league game with Leicester.

Town made two changes from the side that drew 0-0 with Stoke City in the Championship at the Britannia Stadium last Tuesday. Richard Naylor came back in after recovering from a bruised toe to take over the acting captain's armband.

And leading scorer Alan Lee returned to the attack after sitting out in midweek because of a hamstring twinge.

This meant that Ipswich switched to a 4-4-2 formation as they looked to score away from home for the first time since their 2-1 success at Coventry on Boxing Day.
