A REGULAR event in the Ipswich sporting calendar is the annual sausage supper held by Queens FC for its older members and supporters.

Queens are the only club still playing who were original members of the Ipswich Sunday Football League.

It was known in the early Sixties as the Sunday Morning Friendly League, before Sunday football really took off in a big way.

This season Queens are propping up Division Seven but this is not the first time that adversity has hit the club. They take it in their stride and come back the following campaign.

Meanwhile, the elders are looking forward to the annual event which, this year, is being held at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 28 at the Tuddenham Fountain. Tickets are £8, including entertainment, and can be obtained from Achilles chairman, Dave Morgan, by ringing Ipswich 435867.

Life president, Don Kitt, himself a former Grammarians full back and first class referee, will be leading proceedings and with him on the top table will be John Spooner, now retired from his various roles with Ipswich Rugby Club and comedian Gerry Osborne.

Responding for the visitors will be Achilles' president, Dave Routh, who has promised to use this event as a training session for his major performance at the Achilles' tenth reunion dinner on May 17.

Tickets are strictly limited and are already going well.
