JOE Royle expects striker Darren Bent to stay with Ipswich Town.

The manager today named an unchanged side for this afternoon's Coca-Cola Championship match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Portman Road.

And he predicted that Bent would still be at the club when the Blues play their next game - at home to Millwall on Sunday, September 12.

“We received an offer from Charlton, which we turned down,” said Royle. “We have heard nothing since and my gut feeling is that Darren will stay.”

The Barclays Premiership transfer window closes tomorrow night and another approach for the 20-year-old England Under-21 international cannot be ruled out.

Bent, who formed a lively partnership up front with two-goal Shefki Kuqi at Rotherham on Saturday, said that he was in an enviable position.

“It is win, win for me,” said Bent. “I win if I stay with Ipswich because I love playing for the club and want to help them into the Premiership.

“And I win if I move up and start playing regularly in the Premiership, which has always been my aim.

“What will be will be and we will have to wait and see.”
