A HAT-TRICK by AFC striker Sam Banya, the second in the space of five days, helped put his side through to the last 32 of the FA Vase when they knocked out last season's beaten finalist Berkhampstead Town on Saturday.

On a perfect playing surface the Jewson League leaders thrilled the best crowd of the season with a fine display of attacking football that saw them take the lead after just 10 minutes. Banya, who had earlier missed a good chance from Betson's cross shooting against O'Connor's body made no mistake from his second opportunity being well positioned at the far post to powerfully head down Owen's cross the ball just crossing the line before O'Connor's attempt to scoop it out.

Tracey was on hand to tidy up when Brockett's angled shot beat Nower with AFC then coming close to increasing their lead Hyde meeting Owen's corner to send a tremendous volley winging towards the top corner of the net but Mullins on the line headed out.

Tracey headed over his own bar to stop Adebowele getting to Richardson's dangerous cross but it was AFC who continued to look the more threatening with Gardiner sending a stinging shot just into the side netting.

Two minutes after the restart disaster struck the home side when Betson played the ball across his own penalty area but straight to Smith who gratefully shot across Nower into the corner of the net.

AFC recovered from the shock within a minute when a superb bout of interpassing between Banya and Bennett ended with Banya steering the ball past O'Connor to restore the home sides advantage.

Tracey blocked another goalbound effort from Smith and Berkhampstead were then unlucky when Richardson turned on Brockett's pass to send in a great shot the rebounded off the angle of bar and post.

A brilliant break by Reyner then brought a third goal for AFC when he picked out Bennett with a measured cross, Bennett coolly turned inside and placing the ball wide of O'Connor.

Banya shot against O'Connor's outstretched leg but the big striker then completed his hat-trick when Norfolk started a move from his own half that saw Betson surge past Mullins before crossing perfectly for Banya, racing in to slam the ball past O'Connor.

Nower then pulled off his first real save of the match to keep out a well struck effort from Richardson, there was no way back for the Ryman's League side.
