Christchurch II 7 Orwell 1

CHRISTCHURCH enjoyed a first half goalscoring spree as Orwell thirds were roundly beaten in Division One of the Suffolk League.

Sapphire Cutting converted a cross after three minutes to open the scoring and added a second froma short corner.

Orwell came back into the match, steadied by the influence of Nikki Wilcox in central defence, but Christchurch's dominance was restored by three quick goals in the last 15 minutes of the half.

Margaret Gray's speed and fierce shooting gave her two goals and Cutting completed her hat-trick after an explosive dribble down the wing by Linzi Everett.

The visitors started the second half with a change in formation, which paid dividends, and Christchurch were forced into a change as Clare McLannahan limped off injured to be replaced by Julie Spice.

After 52 minutes, Orwell's hard work was rewarded with a goal from Catherine Wilson – but this was soon cancelled out by great combination play by the partnership of Joyce Jay and Gray, with the latter completing her hat-trick.

Ten minutes from time, Cutting rounded off a player of the match display by scoring her fourth.
