CONGRATULATIONS to Southwold Seagulls under-12s after they won through to the semi-finals of the Etihad Airways Curtain Raiser Cup on Sunday at The Stoop.

Having already registered two festival wins in Suffolk they were confident of making an impression at Harlequins' ground but were unsure of the calibre of teams they would be up against.

After shaking off a three-and-a-half hour coach journey, they faced Wimbledon in the first round and tries from Ben Felton and Joe McKay (two) got them off to a flying start.

The Seagulls then went on to hammer Burgess Hill 35-0 as they ran in seven tries with six different try scorers. Coach Roger Felton felt it was testament to the team ethic that has been established within the team that so many different try scorers got in on the act.

Seagulls confirmed themselves as group winners with a narrow win in the final game against Haslemere courtesy of another McKay try.

The boys will return to The Stoop on March 6 to compete for a place in the Grand Final.
