Thurston survived a late fright to beat Worlingworth by six runs. Having posted a useful 236 for four (Martin Wilkins 71 not out, J Smithers 52 not out, Richard Wilkins 47) they appeared to be in control despite David Thurkettle's 61 for the home side. When the ninth wicket fell Ollie Cremnitz came to the wicket and hammered 35 from just 14 balls. Worlingworth needed 23 from the last over and scored 16.

Corinthians were also involved in a high-scoring match at Tuddenham, reaching the home team's total of 240 with two wickets to spare.

Martin Daniels (58 not out) and Chris Mutton (57 not out) hoisted the Bourne Vale total to 172 for three, but an unbeaten 120 from Eye skipper Christian Whiting carried the visitors to a seven-wicket win.

Stowupland were given a lift as number eight batsman Trevor Scarlett cracked 55 not out to reach a final total of 141 for seven, but Woodbridge skipper Ed Parker saw his team home by three wickets with an unbeaten 41. Mark Keetch weighed in with 44 for Woodbridge.

Ian Yapp scored 108 not out as Nowton beat Walsham by 61 runs. He hit 17 fours and a six and the next-best score for Nowton was 22 from Paul Arnold and Nick Taylor. Mark Turner then took seven for 64 to help dismiss Walsham for 146, S Miller scoring 47.

In the Intermediate Division, Steve Bartram (161 not out) and Tom Rash (99, dismissed from the final delivery of the innings going for his century) put on 238, including 127 from the last ten overs, as Wortham scored 285 for two at home to Kesgrave. The visitors replied with 238 for eight as Dan Philpot picked up six for 72. Clive Baker (75), James Holland (40), Tom Young (37) and Alan Warner (36) were in the runs for Kesgrave.

Stradbroke suffered two defeats over the weekend. On Saturday they were bowled out for 148 away to Exning II as the homeside enjoyed an eight-

wicket win.

Next day at home to Worlington II, Stradbroke were given a half-century start by brothers Donovan and Tristan Steward, then slumped to 94 for seven before rallying through Sam Oyitch (46) and Michael Baker (33) to reach 181 all out. Brian Cole (57) and Ian Roberts (68) put on 135 for the second wicket to set Worlington on course for a six-wicket win.

Bourne Vale won by seven wickets in the Federation Cup at Needham Market as Steve Smith cracked 62 not out.

In the Plate competition Great Yeldham recovered from a slow start to beat Melton St Audry's.
