The former Newcastle United and Aston Villa player has been training with the U's recently, as the two parties discussed the possibility of the 35-year-old joining the club's promotion push.
However Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd confirmed Solano will not be on board.
“Nobby won't be staying with us,” Boothroyd said.
“We had discussions over the possibility of him joining the club, but there won't be a deal signed on this occasion.”
