STEVE Spartacus awoke this morning and declared: "I'm feeling just champion!"

The Ipswich boxer captured the vacant English light heavyweight crown when he stopped Scott Lansdowne in the third round, amid amazing scenes at the York Hall in Bethnal Green last night.

"Everything went exactly to plan," beamed 27-year-old Spartacus, a small graze under the right eye his only war wound as he maintained his 100 per cent record.

Lansdowne, 31 and with nine wins in 11 contests, was quickly shown to be out of depth against a far classier opponent.

The 27-year-old Ipswich fighter is now unbeaten in 15, with five of his eight successes inside the distance coming in his last six fights.
