UNBEATEN Bramford professional boxer Spartacus faces his toughest test at the York Hall, in Bethnal Green, on Sunday afternoon.

The 25-year-old, whose real name is Steve Smith, moves up from light heavyweight to make a match with heavyweight Tony Booth at cruiserweight.

This fight is crucial to both boxers. Victory for Spartacus would put him right on course for a Southern Area light heavyweight championship showdown next February with Radcliffe Green.

A win for Booth could possibly set him up for crack at the British cruiserweight crown.

Spartacus, who has won all his ten professional contests, is up against an opponent with a wealth of experience and who is unbeaten in his last 11 contests.

Last month the 32-year-old had a cracking win over the highly-rated Jamie Waters.

"He's come down in the weights and I'm going up for this match to be made at cruiser," said the Suffolk fighter, who will be going into the ring heavier than usual at 13st 5lb. Booth will be around the 14st 4lb mark.

Spartacus said: "It's hardly the ideal fight for me, but I need a pay day. I expect a very hard contest, but hopefully I can extend the unbeaten start to my professional career."

He added: "I like an opponent who really likes to fight. Booth has good hand speed and will provide me with a very strong challenge."

The Bramford boxer will be backed by the regular Spartacus Army at the York Hall for a Eugene Maloney promotion.

Tickets are priced £25 and there are still some available.

A bus will leave Ipswich at 12.45pm. For further details, fight fans can call 07801 580320.
