New Ipswich Witches team manager Ritchie Hawkins says it is "all systems go", with the countdown to the new season underway.
Hawkins is preparing for his first shot at speedway team management after quitting the sport last year.
He has settled into his new life without the racing and is confident the Witches have what it takes to have a successful season.
“When January is out of the way, it suddenly gets close to the start of the season,” Hawkins said.
“I regularly see Danny King and Lewis Kerr and we caught up with Morten Risager the other week.
“I’m glad we are going to Italy for a few days practice (see story below), it will be good for us as a group.
“I’ve taken a look at the other teams in the Premier League and we are definitely one of the best on paper.
“But speedway isn’t raced on paper, so much can happen between now and September.”
Hawkins is set to undergo an operation on his right arm in the next couple of weeks, where he still has four screws and a pin from a previous accident.
He was hoping to join in with a bit of practice in Italy with the other Witches, but that won’t be happening now.
“I may have enjoyed a little ‘skid’ with the boys, but the operation is the week before we go.
“It’s a positive start for all of us on and off the track and it’s great to see Guy Nicholls and his company Tru7.com on board.
“I’ve known Guy for years and he is just a great person to have on board. He is a very good businessman.”
