Ipswich Witches are without Gino Manzares for Saturday night’s crunch Premier League clash at Rye House Rockets.

The American is in Poland for the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship Final 2.

As a result, captain Ritchie Hawkins will switch to number 4 with the Rider Replacement facility being used at number 2.

Saturday’s fixture is one the Witches must take a positive result from, having earned just 10 points from nine away fixtures so far this season.

While fourth in the table, that form has put them in a perilous position which could see them miss out on the top-six and a play-offs spot.

Witches promoter Chris Louis, whose team then travel to Peterborough on Tuesday, explained the importance of the fixture having seen top-six rivals Somerset grab a win there recently.

“We have got to go and do what Somerset did as they are one of the teams challenging for the top-six,” he said.

“It will be a tricky one as Rye House are generally quite good at home and it’s always difficult to beat a team on their home track when they have lost there last time out, but this is one of our remaining fixtures that we have got to be targeting for points.

“We are battling with Peterborough, Workington and possibly Newcastle for those fifth, sixth and seventh positions and our recent home form has given the lads a chance to build some confidence.

“They are not under any more pressure to get results away from home, it is difficult to go away and get victories, but we have put ourselves in a position where we need to be picking up away points.”

The first-leg of the Knock Out Cup Semi Final against Plymouth will take place at Foxhall on September 11.

The away leg will be on September 26.

Somerset v Ipswich in the Premier League will be held on August 22 and Plymouth v Ipswich will take place on September 12.
