STOWMARKET preserve their 100 percent home record with yet another 1-0 victory, their fifth at Greens Meadow this season.

The visitors included ex-professionals Robbie Reinelt and Nicky Smith in their line-up but Stowmarket produced possibly their best performance of the season to grind out their victory.

In the opening half, Stowmarket should have gone ahead when a well-flighted ball from Langham found Jopling lurking at the far post but somehow the striker got his foot trapped under the ball and any danger was then cleared. Maldon had their moments with Grey impressive in midfield and from one of his many passes, Leeks shot just wide and Nunn in the Stow goal, also made a superb one-handed save to deny Docking. The all important goal arrived just after the restart when Stowmarket's Ratcliffe gained possession on the left flank cutting into the area, he turned one way and then the other before planting his left-footed drive into the back of the Maldon net.

For the remainder of the match, Maldon probed for an equaliser and as the minutes ran out, a close range header from Docking went just over the Stow bar. The Suffolk side, however, were a constant threat in attack as they counter-attacked to good effect as throughout the team, Stowmarket continued to impress and late on, an effort from substitute Mayes had Reeve diving to his left to keep the ball out.

A few late corners failed to trouble the Stowmarket goal and Stowmarket once more climbed back to third position in the league.
