Stowmarket Swimming Club were able to put out two teams for the second round of the Suffolk ASA Winter league series.

With strength in depth, the club’s B team travelled through a hail storm and strong winds to take part in a gala at Halstead against four other clubs from Suffolk.

With some of the strongest senior swimmers unable to travel due to the storm, several of the younger girls swam up an age group and competed well against strong opposition. The boys team can second overall.

Meanwhile, back in the relative comfort of Stowmarket Leisure Centre, the A team were victorious in both the boys and girls categories, winning the event overall against clubs from Lowestoft, Sudbury and Mildenhall.

After two rounds of the league and another convincing win at home, the A team can now look forward to a place in the final, with the B team having competed admirably and given many swimmers more competitive experience.

Head Coach, Sylvia Harrison, said: “Well done to all the swimmers involved and their parents for such great support – we now look forward to the winter league final at the end of February”.
