With challengers Lowestoft and Wroxham both snowed off AFC Sudbury took full advantage with a convincing victory over Tiptree taking 100 per cent home record to 12 matches and extending their lead at the top of the table to 13 points.

With new signing Bishop making his full debut Tiptree were overwhelmed by a powerful first half performance that brought an unassailable three goal lead.

In the first few minutes Cheetham had shot inches past the post after a superb reverse pass by Banya, Haygreen had saved brilliantly from Bennett's close range effort and a tame header by Banya had been blocked by a defender.

Banya a constant threat to the Tiptree defence created a chance for Bennett to give the home side the lead after 17 minute his deflected shot beating Haygreen.

Ten minutes later Gardiner had the home supporters on their feet with a stunning 25 yard shot that flew past Haygreen.

With Tiptree reeling Pattell somehow blocked Bennett's header on the line, but minutes later Bennett was not to be denied when he met Rayner's cross from the left with a brilliant near post back heeled flick into the roof of the net.

Blizzard-like conditions met the teams in the second half with Tiptree finally testing Nower who was equal to Daly's shot.

As Tiptree looked to be getting back into the game AFC stepped up the pace again with another superb build up bringing a fourth goal. Norfolk, Betson and Bennett combined to give Banya the chance for a well deserved goal and two minutes later it was five when Bennett's 40-yard pass sent Betson clear.

His cross saw Haygreen block Banya's shot with Betson squaring the loose ball to Rayner who easily beat Haygreen.

Gardiner, who had been a midfield inspiration, then denied Tiptree even a consolation goal when he was on hand to clear a shot off the line.
