RELEGATION-threatened Swaffham shocked Bury with a surprise lead after 32 minutes when Hill misjudged the bounce of a long through ball leaving Hunter to tap into an empty net.

Worse was to come for Bury when Crawford created space in the corner of the box and lobbed Swaffham's second into the far corner after 37 minutes.

Bury grabbed a lifeline 12 minutes after the restart. A long throw by substitute Procter was headed on by Eady to Stringfellow who slid the ball over the line.

As Bury brightened North crashed a drive against keeper Smith but what threatened to become a Bury avalanche proved little more than a flurry with too many passes going astray and keeper Smith only occasionally tested.

A brilliant run by Crawford bounced off the top of Swaffham's bar, but that proved the closest Bury could get to earning a point.
