FOR the first 15 minutes Ransomes were running the game and Saints' first touch was very poor.

The home side won a corner and nearly scored direct, but this was just palmed away by the keeper. Saints then forced four corners in a row but nothing came from them.

Threadkell got a good tackle in and deflected Bennett's shot onto the bar.

Ransomes then forced two corners, one was headed high over the bar. In the 40th minute Ransomes broke down the right and with Saints players looking like statutes Bennett easily headed home.

Saints, now with the wind at their backs, started to get further forward. Pilkington tried a long shot but it was way over the top. Saints never seemed to get into Ransomes penalty area. Murphy did get a shot in but the keeper saved well.

Murphy for Saints that put R Hall through but he fluffed his shot. A free-kick by Pilkington but his curve was just too much.

Saints were awarded a penalty when Harper was brought down but Ransomes keeper made a great save.

Pilkington sent in a great centre but Ford put his header over the top.

Saints never got to grips with this match as Ransomes picked up only their third league win this season.
