THREE teams remain in the hunt for promotion from the Metaltec SIL First Division, with Colin Macrow's Old Newton confirmed champions if they win at Bramford United.

Suffolk Junior Cup holders Stonham Aspal will join Newton in the top flight if they gain three points at Wickham Market.

BT Trimley are also in the hunt and a win over Framlingham in a game switched to Framlingham will give them a chance of a top two finish.

With possible 'replayed' matches, Bildeston Rangers, Wenhaston United, Bramford Road Old Boys and Stradbroke United all remain in with a chance of finishing second behind Claydon in Division Two.

The race for promotion from Division Four has reached pressure-cooker proportions.

After Tuesday night's result, Stowmarket Stag went top on goal difference following a 3-0 win over Meadlands.

Stag have 57 points as have St Clement's Hospital, while in-form Ipswich Postals have 56, Meadlands 55 and Waterside 53.

Tomorrow, Waterside - just one defeat in 2007 - are at home to Postals, but would need a huge win to overcome the goal difference. Stag could be champions by lunchtime as they have a 10.30am kick-off at lowly East Bergholt A, while St Clement's have a 1.30pm kick-off at equally lowly Ipswich Exiles Res as Exiles' first team are at home later on.

Meadlands, who won their first 13 games before being beaten at home by St Clement's, should beat mid-table Great Blakenham.

It looks as though Stag will complete a memorable season having already won the Suffolk Junior Cup but the rest is in the lap of the gods.
