IPSWICH Town's Icelandic giant Hermann Hreidarsson declared today: "We need to get our season going."

The 27-year-old defender makes his 50th Blues appearance in Sunday's live Sky Sports Premiership clash with Blackburn Rovers at Portman Road (kick-off 4pm).

The £4.5 million signing from Wimbledon, whose side have four points from four games, said: "A good home win over Blackburn can see us really get into our rhythm. We've had a disappointing couple of results but we have never been outplayed.

"It's been a bit stop-start so far what with international action. But we are going about things in the same way as we did last season. Hopefully the Blackburn game can really spark us."

Playing in front of the Sky Sports cameras so often inspires Town. They won all three home Sky games last year against Tottenham, Leicester and Bradford.

"What better time to get really get our season going than in front of a world-wide television audience," said Hreidarsson.

He says of Blackburn: "They are a good footballing side and playing against that sort of team suits us. They did really well to win promotion last season and have a very experienced manager in Graeme Souness. We lost our last home game to Charlton. Now we badly want to give our fans another win to celebrate."

Hreidarsson is not the only Town player poised for a 50th appearance on Sunday. Dutch midfielder Martijn Reuser can also hit that landmark and full-back Fabian Wilnis is one game away from a 100th appearance.

Blues Player of the Year striker Marcus Stewart continues his intense treatment in a bid to be fit for the Blackburn visit.

He sustained a hamstring injury in last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Leicester although yesterday he did a little light running.

A good win for Town on Sunday would be a timely boost ahead of next Thursday night's UEFA Cup first round first leg tie with Torpedo Moscow at Portman Road.

It has been put back a week after the American disaster and subsequently next Wednesday's scheduled Premiership match at Southampton was postponed.

Southampton secretary Brian Truscott said: "We can understand what has been done and why. Like everyone else we were horrified at the atrocity and send our

condolences.

"We are not unfeeling in any way but we are not happy that UEFA have ordered Ipswich to play next week so that it does not disrupt their schedule."
