THE continued growth of Ipswich's top non-league club is in doubt following news that Ipswich Wanderers' PASE scheme may be moved away from Humber Doucy Lane.

Associated with Suffolk College, the scheme offers talented youngsters a full-time course

linking football coaching with academic studies.

It has already been running for two seasons and many of the teenagers on the course have made their way through to the Wanderers reserve and first teams.

Coaching began this season in July and next Monday sees the College term begin.

The problem is believed to revolve around a change of first team management at Wanderers with Graham Bickers taking over from Alan Dilloway.

The latter used a number of PASE youngsters in his squad that finished third from bottom of the Premier Division of the Jewson League last season.

Colwyn Rowe is director of football at the Wanderers PASE scheme, which is one of a number backed by the Football Association and situated at non-league clubs around the country.

He is currently at Lilleshall acting as course director on an international coaching licence course. Former England, Everton and Stoke defender Mike Pejic is helping Rowe run a course that has brought potentially top coaches from all over the world.

Taking a break from his duties today Rowe said: "There has been a disagreement with Wanderers and I will be looking at the situation when I come back to Suffolk.

"For the foreseeable future the scheme will remain at Wanderers. What the future holds will be discussed next week."

A former Wanderers manager, Rowe is an ex-professional player and fully qualified coach. Two of his PASE coaches, John Coupe and Lenny Pack, were involved in running the reserve team last season.

The scheme, aimed at giving players who just miss out on joining youth schemes at league clubs a chance to work their way up to the professional game, has brought on a number of talented youngsters over the last two years.

PASE scheme centres play each other on a league basis midweek and Wanderers have a good recent record in the FA Youth Cup.

Notcutts Park, the home of Woodbridge Town, is one place being considered as a replacement if the current situation can not be resolved at Wanderers.

A spokesman for Wanderers said: "We do not want to comment publicly until Colwyn is back and the

situation clarified."
