IT was so wet at Fynn Valley for their men's March Medal that there was a trolley ban imposed for members without a medical certificate.

Winter rules for a qualifying competition do not allow for cleaning or dropping the ball in the rough, although this was permitted on closely mown areas.

Some members did not fully understand the conditions under which the competition was to be played and, it is claimed, gained an unfair advantage over those who observed the correct procedures.

Although scores returned on the day will stand for handicap purposes, no prizes were awarded.

The entry fee may either be transferred to the next monthly medal or members can claim a refund.

Club secretary Tony Tyrrell said: “Members are reminded to check when registering for a competition exactly what rules apply on any given day, especially when there are extreme conditions.”
