WHILST Melton scored two good goals they could thank keeper McKenna who made two excellent penalty saves to keep their recent run of wins intact. The game had hardly started when Cook fired a superb 25 yarders that had the keeper beaten hands down and had Moorford taking his chance it should have been 2-0 within the first five minutes.

Haughley seemed stunned by this opening burst and try as they might never made any inroads until they received rightly their first penalty. Having exited the Senior Cup on penalties, confidence at taking the spot kick may not have seemed high but a well struck effort saw McKenna dive to his right that stopped Kidd's effort.

Cook once again for the home side saw his effort drift wide of the upright before a free kick doubled their score as Fosker eventually fumbled the ball into the net following Glencastle's free kick.

Opening exchanges in the second half went Melton's way and after failing to capitalise on their dominance let visitors Haughley back into the game, a couple of one on ones at either end failed to make any difference until Haughley received their second penalty after Lummis was fouled in the box.

Haughley appointed Finch as their penalty taker and whilst his effort looked goalbound McKenna had other ideas and made an impressive save which goes to show that keepers can win games.
