IPSWICH Town left-back Scott Barron has agreed a new deal that will keep him at Portman Road until June 2008.
Barron has established himself in the Town starting line-up since coming into the side over the Christmas period having spent a year on the sidelines with a groin injury.
“Scott has done very well and his arrival on the scene solved a problem that I had at left-back,” said manager Joe Royle.
“He deserves his new contract, and he has a big part to play in the future of the club.”
Barron, 20, had three operations last season and it took time to cure a hernia problem.
He said: “This was always going to be a big season for me, but always felt that if I could break in to the side then a new deal would follow.
“Being injured for virtually a whole year didn't help me progress, but this season has been great for me.
“I am learning all the time from the players around me.”
