IT'S been a tough season for Bourne Vale as they have dropped to the bottom of the Suffolk Premier League, but the Ipswich-based side now have something to celebrate.

Duncan Carragher scored a century and Marty Daniels added 55 in a 73-run win over Nowton, the team set to accompany them down to the Intermediate Division next season.

Having posted an impressive 225 for five, Bourne Vale wrapped up the win by dismissing their visitors for 152, with three wickets each for Chris Mutton, Ian Fraser and John Mulley.

Dave Meeson, with 42, and opener Henry Desch, with 37, were the main scorers for Nowton.

Woodbridge & OWs were convincing winners over Worlingworth. Having ended Thurston's unbeaten record the previous week, Woodbridge rattled up 256 for eight (Adi Barham 77, Jim Vince 44 not out, Dave Scales 39, Andy Oswald 32 not out) and then bowled Worlingworth out for 107, with four wickets each for Driver and Will Nicholls.

Felixstowe Corinthians kept up their bid for the runners-up position when they whipped Eye out for just 97 (Andy Shaw three for 14, Julian Gibbs two for 21) on their way to a ten-wicket win. Andy Harrison (53 not out) and Cameron Monteith (32 not out) knocked off the required runs.

Kedington regained much pride in their return match with Kesgrave in the Intermediate Division. Just a fortnight earlier Kedington had been skittled for just ten runs, but this time they reached 192 for eight. Unfortunately it was still not enough, as Kesgrave had scored 199 for nine, but it was a cracking effort. James Holland, with 89 and five for 38, was their nemesis, just as he had been at Kesgrave when he took five for six.

In the Plate competition, Nowton beat Felixstowe Corinthians and Great Yeldham beat Bury St Edmunds and they will meet in the final at a venue to be decided on Saturday, August 31.
