Jewson Premier: Ipswich Wanderers 4 Tiptree United 0 - The Humber Doucy Lane crowd were treated to a classic end to end encounter with the score line not doing the visitors justice.

ON a perfectly playable pitch it was the visitors who settled first and their

attacking play produced a series of

corners.

These failed to trouble the Maldon defence and eventually the home side got into their stride, with Owers and Newman orchestrating play from midfield.

After 19 minutes Maldon's Cousins was put through, but Nunn made a fine save. However, it was only a temporary reprieve as a minute later Warwick fired home from close range to open the

scoring.

Maldon left wing-back Huttley was a constant threat to the Stowmarket defence during the first half and after 25 minutes he put in a cross that was met by Cousins who headed powerfully towards the

bottom corner where Nunn, diving to his right, pushed the ball around a post.

From the resulting corner the Huttley-Cousins combination this time proved unstoppable as Cousins leapt to meet the ball and planted his header firmly into the net.

Huttley caused further chaos in the Stowmarket defence when, on 34 minutes, his long throw was flicked on for Warwick to head home at the far post to make it 3-0.

It was one-way traffic at this point and another cross, this time by Owers, was met by Warwick which enabled the Maldon striker to complete a first-half hat-trick.

Maldon made it five after 52 minutes and again Huttley was the provider,

crossing from the left for Warwick to get in front of his defender to divert the ball into the net from close range.

Not surprisingly the game lost some direction during the second half, but with Newman showing excellent close control and with the ability to go past players, Maldon always looked capable of

extending their lead.

In the closing minutes Warwick and Daly both spurned presentable chances and Nunn, in the Stowmarket goal,

produced a range of stops to prevent his side from being completely routed.

However, on the verge of full time he was powerless to prevent Maldon's sixth. Keeble won the ball in midfield and fed Newman who in turn released substitute Daly who broke into the box before firing under the Stowmarket keeper.

AFC Sudbury extended their lead at the top of the table to 15 points with their first victory at Gorleston since the merger of the Sudbury clubs.

After Banya had created an early chance for Bennett to shoot wide, Gorleston's Danby went close with a strong downward header followed by Nower saving from Wooldridge at the near post. Ingram sent a powerful 30-yard shot flashing narrowly wide before Bishop set up Banya, whose shot on the turn was well over.

AFC Sudbury went ahead on the

half-hour, another swift attacking build-up started by Bennett allowing Rayner to release Owen, who cleverly sidestepped Cooper before scoring from an acute angle.

Within minutes, only a superb reflex save from Nower kept out a stinging close-range shot from Wooldridge before AFC increased their lead. A delightful four-man move ending with Betson

accurately crossing to the far post where Banya was waiting to head comfortably into the net.

Bennett almost made it three, turning on Banya's cross to get in a shot that Cockrill blocked on the line.

Shortly after, Cockrill was at the other end to send a 35-yard shot skimming just past a post followed by Wooldridge

heading over from a good position.

Within minutes of the restart efforts from Bishop, Bennett and Banya had

finished off-target before two free kicks for Gorleston on the edge of the area saw Cockrill send the first over the bar and have the second blocked.

AFC made it three after 75 minutes when a needless attempted backpass went for a corner from which Tracey flicked on Norfolk's kick to Bishop, who turned and shot past Cooper.

Gorleston scored a consolation goal three minutes from time through Ottley.
