George Ward and Duncan Snape, last season's runners up, stay on course to go one step further in the Suffolk County EBA Pairs Championship.

In the quarter finals played at Ransomes BC they defeated Charles Cooper and Rod Pittock who were making their first appearance in the quarter finals.

Early exchanges proved even, but it was the more experienced Melton pairing who consolidated in the middle part of the game to eventually win 20-13.

In the semi-final they take on Andy Meikle and Adrian Holden who overcame Robbie Morter and David Wellington in their quater final.

It was the Felixstowe and Suffolk pairing of Meikle and Holden who made the better start and this proved crucial as Morter and Wellington were unable to reduce the deficit.

A count of six on the 15th end for the Felixstowe pair all but sealed the match as they opened up a 18-8 lead. They won 23-11.

The other semi-final will be between Neil Frohawk and Percy Rowe of Debenham BC and Jack Jermy and John Catchpole of Beccles BC.

Frohawk and Rowe overcame Roy Bareham and Graham Rowland of Cornard. It proved a close match with the match all square at five ends (6-6). Rowe then took the lead only to be pegged back to 12 all by the 12th end. It was from here the Debenham pair got the upper hand and went on to win 21-18.

John Catchpole had to have a substitute in place of the holiday-making Jack Jermy. Mike Puxley came in and did not let his partner down.

It was the Beccles pair who dominated the opening 10 ends against Steve Miller and Gene Barfield of Bramford BC and led 13-1. Back came the Bramford pairing over the second half of the match and went into the last end just two shots in arrears. The comeback could not be completed as they could only manage a single to go down 15-14.
