Cranes’ boss Iain Radnor, believes his side are fully equipped to regain their title, and lauded his team’s spirit as a group.

Cranes romped to league success last season and started this campaign in good fashion with a 3-0 win at Grundisburgh on Saturday.

“Last season proved our spirit, desire, willingness to work for each other, and our players’ talents shone through,” said Radnor.

“The atmosphere we have in the changing room is fantastic, and they are a bunch of quality lads.”

He added: “Our team isn’t about individuals, it’s about the group. Every new signing that comes in finds that out, and within days they know they are playing for the group.”

The Greshams-based side have brought in several new players, including last year’s top scorer James Blades, who scored 26 goals for Ipswich Valley Rangers, and scored a debut goal at the weekend.

Radnor is expecting a very tough start to the season, with every game being played at a highly intense level.

“It’s always hard to start to the season how you want,” he explained.

“Teams will have to settle down and every game will be played at 100 miles-per-hour. All teams will be a hard test for us.

“They will want to beat us to get the headlines and cause an upset, in effect every game is a cup final against us.”

Radnor believes his team have what it takes to do a repeat of last year, knowing they need to just concentrate on themselves, and not get involved with mind games from other teams.

“I’m quietly confident we can win the league again this season. There’s been a lot of changes in the league over the summer, but it’s all about what we can do, that’s all we can determine,” he said.
