WENDY Sturmey, assistant chef at the Ipswich Town training ground for 11 years before retiring last week, had a send-off to remember at Portman Road on Sunday.
She was allowed into the dressing room before the start of the Cardiff City game and said: “I held Shane Supple's hand as the players walked out to go on the pitch.
“I was also in the players' lounge at the end of the match, and it was a day that I will never forget with my family and grandchildren all at the game.”
Wendy watched the game from the directors' box, and says that she will still be popping into the club.
“I have a note of all the coaches and players' birthdays and will be going in with cakes,” she said.
