TONY Rickardsson knows what it takes to be successful having won the world individual speedway championship five times.

And after Ipswich extended their winning start to the season to five matches he picked out the Witches to be front-runners in the race for the Sky Bet Elite League title.

The popular Swede, who is an Ipswich asset having ridden at Foxhall Stadium in two successful spells, looked unbeatable for Poole until he snapped a primary chain when leading heat 13 last night.

"I feel robbed," he said. "Jason Lyons and myself did not have the best of luck, but this should take little away from an Ipswich side that looks very competitive.

"It is wonderful to see Chris Louis back in the saddle, and he has already had a great impact in improving the situation at Ipswich.

"We fancy our chances of retaining the title, but know now that Ipswich are poised to push us all the way."
