IPSWICH Evening Star Witches are not ready to pull the plug on their asset Daniel King riding for Peterborough in the Sky Sports Elite League play-offs.

It is believed that financially troubled Panthers still owe Ipswich for King's loan this year.

But the Suffolk club are going to allow King to see out the season at the East of England showground.

Witches promoter John Louis would neither confirm nor deny that his club has received any of the loan payments.

And he showed no interest in recalling King.

“It would be unfair on Daniel,” said Louis. “He is a great rider with bags of talent, and he would not deserve that.”

Peterborough have stated publicly that they would like to purchase King - and are waiting to hear from Ipswich in reply to a request made last spring.

In the current climate they are likely to have to wait some time.

Louis insists that the last thing he wants is to get embroiled in a slanging match with the Peterborough promotion.

“I don't want to be seen to be having a go at them in any way,” he said.

But when pressed over the future of King, Louis was clear in his reply.

“There is no way I intend to sell Daniel,” he confirmed.

“He is a talented young English rider and I want to hold on to him and hopefully have him back at Foxhall Stadium.

“There is no point having a rider who does not want to ride for you, and after some debate last winter we decided the best thing to do was to loan Daniel out to Peterborough.

“It was not ideal situation for us, but it was in the best interests of Daniel.

“But times change and he knows he would be welcome back at Ipswich.”

Ipswich put up a great show at home to Swindon on Saturday - and they are looking to do the same when Coventry visit Foxhall Stadium tomorrow (THUR) night.

A win for the in-form Bees could confirm a top two finish, but the Witches will be looking to put on a similar courageous show to the one that saw them pipped by 46-44 by the Robins after the visitors grabbed a dramatic last heat 5-1.

Tobi Kroner and Marcin Rempala were in top form for Ipswich, and the Pole will be out to carry on his good work.

Whether Rempala has done enough to keep his place in the Witches side in 2008 remains to be seen, but if he continues in the same vein as he showed against Swindon at home - and ups his scores on his Witches travels then he stands a good chance.
