IPSWICH Evening Star Witches can finish no higher than third in the Sky Bet Elite League table after Wolverhampton gained the aggregate bonus point in their win over Peterborough last night.

Even if Ipswich win their remaining two meetings - and Wolves, as expected, fail to ride their final match at Coventry before Thursday's deadline - they will miss out on race points difference.

Six points would put Ipswich level with Wolves on 55 points, but the midlands side's race points difference is 142 compared to Ipswich's 74.

The Witches ride at Belle Vue tomorrow night and at home to Peterborough on Thursday. One point would put them level with Eastbourne, with the Eagles ending their season with a race points difference of 67.

Unless rain intervenes, or Ipswich get cricket scores tomorrow and Thursday, they will ride at home to Eastbourne this Monday in the play-off quarter-final.

If they win that one-off meeting they would then most probably be away to Wolves in the play-off semi-final the following Monday. Wolves would be expected to beat the fifth-placed finishers at home in their quarter-final.
