IN TONIGHT'S GREEN 'UN

IPSWICH Town were rated in their final home game of the season when Wimbledon struck three times in the last seven minutes to send Town's fans home utterly miserable.

This performance will do nothing for the sale of season tickets for next season and the display augers badly for what 2003/2004 may bring.

It is likely to be the last game at Portman Road for a number of players and there appeared to be tears in the eyes of skipper Matt Holland when he did his traditional run around the pitch to applaud the fans at the end of the match.

It was not a comfortable occasion for the team as some sections of the crowd made their feelings known as Wimbledon showed much more on the day and after struggling to hold Ipswich for the opening 20 minutes took almost complete control.

Ipswich missed chances but their defence was never sound with the Wimbledon front two of Shipperley and Connolly running riot on a day when the former opened the scoring and the latter added two late goal before setting up Alex Tapp for a late fifth goal.

On the hour substitute Adam Nowland had scored the second, and despite Darren Bent coming off the bench to head in Jim Magilton's cross in the 79th minute, it was a thoroughly depressing day for Ipswich.
