Eighties pop icon Kim Wilde is bringing her first full UK tour in three decades to Ipswich.
Called Here Come The Aliens, it’ll coincide with the release of her 14th studio album of the same name.
“I’m really excited to be announcing a new tour. I don’t think I’ve toured the UK for over 30 years so I can’t wait to play this new show with my fantastic band,” said Kim, who burst on to the music scene in 1981 with the worldwide hit Kids In America.
“We’re going to be playing my biggest hits and some fabulous tracks from the new album which is coming out next spring. We can’t wait.”
The multi-award winning singer recorded Here Come The Aliens at London’s legendary RAK studios, where she began her career recording smashes like Chequered Love and Cambodia.
The trail-blazer has sold more than 30million records worldwide, paving the way for other British female artists.
Tickets for the March 30 gig go on sale at 9am, this Friday, from www.ticketmaster.com. She’s also at Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion on March 31.
Peter Taylor, director of tour promoters Cuffe and Taylor, said: “Kim is one of the most successful female pop stars the UK has ever produced.
“She has played to sell-out crowds across Europe and the world and we expect this tour to be massively popular with her army of fans across the UK and beyond. It is going to be something really special.”
Kim followed Kids In America with some of the most memorable hits of the 1980s including You Keep Me Hangin’ On, a number one in America; You Came, Never Trust A Stranger and Four Letter Word. The BPI Awards, the forerunner to the Brits, crowned her best British female singer in 1983.
She supported Michael Jackson on the European leg of his Bad tour, playing to more than two million people. She also joined David Bowie on his Greatest Hits stadium tour in 1990.
Taking a break from music to get married, have children and re-discover a love for gardening, the Magic FM radio host returned to gigging in 2001 and released the albums Never Say Never, Come Out And Play, Snapshots and most recently Wilde Winter Songbook.
