East Anglian breast cancer charity Art For Cure has just announced the programme for its latest fundraising exhibition – Fanfare.

Taking place over the May bank holiday weekend (April 30 to May 2) at Bredfield House near Woodbridge, more than 100 artists will be exhibiting during the event, selling paintings, sculptures, ceramics and photography.

Entry is £10 per person, including refreshments in the tea tent, and homemade cakes from the WI, with proceeds going towards the charity.

In addition, an auction will take place, with prizes ranging from a Caribbean holiday, to a recording studio experience.

Here are just some of the artists to look out for...

Laura Huston

“My work explores subtle variations of form, pattern and colour. The geometric shapes are thrown on the wheel in sections and later joined together. Once leather-hard they are covered in slip and carved back to reveal the clay beneath; an accomplished process called 'sgraffito'. The pots have a semi-matt glaze and are then twice-fired in an electric kiln.”

Maria Fletcher

“I am fascinated by pattern and colour and have a closely observed method. My natural brush strokes capture the delightful richness and energy within the flowers and fruit. My very first paintings contributed to cancer research and I am very excited to continue to be part of a contributor to Art For Cure’s success.”

Kit Agnew

“I like extravagance but I cannot bear waste. That is my motto and my work reflects this with the incorporation of reclaimed steel in my sculptures. I have been working with metal since my early teens and set up Ablaze Bowls in 2017 after my first fire bowl commission. I design and create from my workshop in North Norfolk.  I collect steel shapes, and then with minimal cutting and lots of welding I turn these shapes into sculptures, also used as planters. Then set them alight.”

Eileen Coxon

“Daily walks near my home are the source for my work which is about my experience of landscape and the natural world.  Memory and studio practice also play a large part in the final paintings.

As a survivor of breast cancer myself, it is especially meaningful to me to be involved with the wonderful and dynamic charity which is Art for Cure which does so much for breast cancer care and research.”

Claire Oxley

“I have been thrilled to be part of Art for Cure since 2020, and am a great admirer of the successes of Belinda Gray and her team. My paintings are distinctive by their intensity of hue and rhythmic mark making. I make pieces that chart and describe the seasons, skies, seas and fields of East Anglia - landscapes of energy and flux. Unexpected colour combinations inspire, and bring energy to interior spaces.”

Sara Johnson

“Having originally trained in textiles, I moved into garden design and finally landscape painting. My inspiration comes from the amazing estuaries and rivers, close to my home on the Norfolk-Suffolk border.”

The charity was founded by Belinda Gray, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 46. Her first exhibition, at her home, raised £100,000. It's now a leading arts charity, led by Belinda and her team of volunteers.
