Have you ever wished that you were born early enough to have been part of Bobby Robson’s FA Cup winning side in May 1978? Well you don’t have to jump aboard the TARDIS or fall through a wormhole in time, you can just audition to take part in a new dance-led reconstruction of Ipswich Town’s history-making victory at Wembley.

DanceEast are supporting the New Wolsey in recruiting a group of young men aged 17- 26 to work with dance artist Tom Hobden, and be a part of an exciting new production of Our Blue Heaven about Ipswich Town Football Club’s historic 1978 FA Cup victory.

Our Blue Heaven is a story built around the journey of Ipswich Town FC through the rounds of the FA Cup during the Spring of 1978. Vicky Cullum from DanceEast said: “The show requires a number of football sequences and we are looking to recruit a community cast of young actors/dancers/footballers/fans to work with Tom Hobden and create these sections of the show.

“Each football sequence will be choreographed to a track from 1978 played live onstage by the house band – in a stylized way not involving a ball. Why not come along to a taster session and see what you think?

“We are running two taster sessions for you to be inspired and gain an insight into what may be required of you. If you enjoy it, great and if not – just tell your friends about it.”

The first session will be on Tuesday January 16 and the second Tuesday January 23. Both sessions will be held at the DanceHouse in Foundry Lane, on the Ipswich Waterfront and will run from 8-9:30pm.

“Experience isn’t essential; we need young men who are committed, enthusiastic and are excited at the prospect of being on stage in this celebratory production. Commitment to the rehearsal schedule (across April) and performance schedule (across May / June) is required; more information to be given at the taster session.”
