After Suffolk was crowned as the best place in England for a spring walk, there has never been a better time to explore the county.

Suffolk has recently been named the best place to walk in the country by the Telegraph due to its "huge, swashbuckling skies" and "wealth of options" for areas to explore.

As the sun starts to creep out from behind the clouds after a few weeks of poor weather, here is a guide to some of the best walks Suffolk has to offer this spring.

1. Sutton Hoo

Home to one of the biggest archaeological discoveries in history, the 255-acre Sutton Hoo estate brings historical significance to the spring walk.

With far-reaching views of the River Deben, the estate has a variety of different trails that loop round the Royal Burial Ground, Rabbit field and Top Hat Wood before finishing at the exhibition and café area.

2. Ickworth Park

Ickworth Park is home to a variety of different walks that explore the vast area in and around the famous Ickworth House.

Whether it's a walk by Canal lake, a stroll through the Italianate Garden or the Monument trail trek, walkers are spoilt for choice and will have to go several times to take in all Ickworth Park has to offer.

3. Orwell Country Park

Spanning a huge 470 acres, Orwell Country Park covers ancient woodlands, heathland and mudflats.

The park's three main sites are Piper's Vale, Bridge Wood and Braziers – and with so much to see, it is really somewhere for walkers to go and lose themselves in the scenery.

4. Walberswick Beach

There aren't many better beaches to walk your dog this spring than at Walberswick.

Across the River Blyth from Southwold, this Suffolk beach is backed by small sand dunes. The mix of sand and shingle makes this beach a great spot to take out your pooch.

5. Lavenham to Long Melford railway walk

The railway walk between Lavenham and Long Melford is about 4.5 miles long and explores everything from old historic railway lines to stunning Suffolk woodland.

Finishing at Melford Hall, this walk is packed full of history and information as well as providing a great long trek for dog owners and outdoor enthusiasts.
