A TRAVELLING salesman gets involved in fishy goings-on in a Suffolk village this Christmas courtesy of Eastern Angles.
Gills Around the Green, by Julian Harries with music by Pat Whymark, centres on Vernon Spratt who gets stuck in a snowdrift while driving to Walberswick.
Trouble starts when, in a desperate attempt to keep warm, he smears himself with the entire stock of anti-ageing serum and falls asleep.
Always an interesting alternative to the traditional Christmas panto; Gills Around the Green is a freshly-penned, East Anglian flavoured, funny piece of theatre with lashings of witty wordplay, toe-tapping tunes and top-notch comedy performances.
It will be staged at Ipswich’s Sir John Mills Theatre from December 1–January 8 before transferring to the Seckford Theatre, at Woodbridge School, from January 11–22.
