Six stages, 50 acts, thousands of people soaking up the sunshine ... that’s what is on offer at Ipswich Music Day.
People have either been basking in the hot weather or finding a shady nook to cover up to listen to the entertainment on offer.
And what a variety there has been for the near 35,000 people attending the event in Christchurch Park, Ipswich, this afternoon.
The bumper crowds started flocking to the town centre location long before the first bands and acts appeared on stage at noon and many will have their blankets and chairs firmly located to the bitter end just after 8pm.
Temperatures have been glorious all day and the line-up was packed with homegrown talent.
By mid afternoon the BBC Radio Suffolk stage had attracted the biggest crowds to listen to the raw sounds of rock band Bouncing Off Concrete. the Ashton Jones Project will bring the event to a close.
The other five stages were sponsored by Suffolk New College, Town 102, Grapevine and the University of Suffolk.
But there has been lots more for the whole family to enjoy including a fun fair and many stalls. Acts such as Tournier, Alton Wahlberg and Ady Johnson were on the line-up for the Grapevine Mansion Lawn stage, while bands like Radio Orwell, Hemmingway and Spacecake are gracing the Monument stage.
Over on the Ed Sheeran and Suffolk New College pond stage, Rad Pitt and a host of college bands have given stand out performances.
The Super Things and The ELO Encounter were among the acts booked for the BBC Playground Stage, while The High Points, Soul Riot and Castell took to the University of Suffolk Bowl stage.
The Ipswich Arts Association hosted 15 acts across four venues, including Christchurch Mansion, Bethesda Church, Masonic Hall and St Margaret’s Church.
Now in its 28th year Mark Whiting, the commercial manager for organisers Ipswich Borough Council, said the event had gone “very well” and had been “well received” by everybody attending.
“And the weather has been fantastic which helps a great deal,” he added.
“You don’t have to be really close to the stages to appreciate the acts as people have set up under the cover of the trees and the day builds up to the headline acts.
“It’s just a great family day for everyone and they bring in their own seats or blankets.”
Councillor Carole Jones was touring the park with council leader David Ellsmere and she said: “This is absolutely fantastic and an amazing feat of organisation ... and it’s all free in this beautiful park.”
And Mr Ellsmere added: “This is the biggest event of its kind that the council organises and gets the most amount of people to attend and we are committed to putting on events like this for the family.”
