A former X Factor contestant from Ipswich is refusing to let the disappointment of leaving the show get her down, as she prepares to perform at a national awards ceremony.

Ten Senah wowed the judges in her first audition for the competition with a rendition of her song 15 Minutes.

She made it through to the bootcamp stage, although she was not chosen by judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini as one of her six acts to progress to the judges’ houses.

But later this month, she will be stepping on to the stage for the Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts awards (BEFFTA) in London, with The Voice 2014 winner Jermain Jackman also due to perform.

“It will be amazing to share the stage with him,” said the 25-year-old.

Ten has described her appearance on X Factor as a stepping stone for her career and is looking forward to her appearance at the awards, which will add to the exposure she has been enjoying regularly.

Despite not making it through to the next stage, she says her peek into the world of music has only increased her desire to make it as a singer.

She added: “I want international stardom, definitely. I know it is not going to happen overnight, there are other people who have been working at it for years, but now I have had a taste of what it is actually like. It can be gut-wrenching, but you just want more of it.

“I am more determined that ever.”
