Here’s something the weather can’t spoil, a new three-day and mostly undercover music festival for Ipswich.
OEP Live’s Festival FeelGood takes place at Trinity Park September 2-4 and features a range of top acts.
Craig Charles’ Funk and Soul Club kicks things off in The Soul Shack Friday night. Best known for playing Dave Lister in Red Dwarf and Lloyd Mullaney in Coronation Street, he’s swapping the cobbles of Weatherfield for the decks. Support will come from guest support DJs pumping out non-stop music.
This Is FeelGood SKA, at The Events Centre, will feature Mainly Madness, seven-piece live band 2 Rude will have you up and dancing to the classics of The Specials, Bad Manners, Selecter and other legends like Desmond Dekker, Toots and The Maytals, UB40 and Bob Marley.
Special guests Beat Goes Bang features ex-Beat members Everrette Morton plus Neil Detteridge and Mickey Billigham of Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Expect all the hits plus some new songs.
FeelGood Saturday in The Soul Shack will include performances from dance, funk, soul, rap and rnb pioners The Fatback Band. They will be joined by Natasha Watts, Shakatak, Rose Royce’s Gwen Dickey and the Edwin Starr Band featuring Angelo Starr.
Otis Redding Jnr and his band will celebrate his father’s remarkable career, disco’s greatest gift to music Chic La Freak perform as does reggae band Steel Pulse’s Basil Gabbidon and Johnny 2 Bad pays tribue to UB40.
Ipswich’s Got Talent winners Just Jay Dance will open this amazing bill with performances from their award winning Poptastic show, fusing street, hip hop, musical theatre, funky burlesque and jazz. If the weather’s good, this event will spill out into the open air so don’t forget your picnics.
FeelGood Greatest Hits Sunday, in The Rock Shack and The Events Centre, is not to be missed.
The Electric Light Orchestra Laser Spectacular brings together rock classics and melodic symphonic rock showcasing the songwriting and genius of Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra courtesy of a full eight-piece outfit, including the famous string section.
Also performing are Money for Nothing with The Dire Straits’ greatest hits and classic tracks show, Counterfeit Quo recreate the dynamic Quo performances of old, Creedence Clearwater Review are the definitive Creedence Clearwater Revival Band in the UK playing everything from their biggest hits to album tracks and obscurities; while Graham Nash captures Billy Joel from the 1970s and 1980s to the current day. The latter will be a highly interactive, sing-a-long, clap-a-long, audience participation show in which you’re as much of the performance as the performers.
