The bushcraft and survival expert explored the power of endurance through the heartfelt tales of four individuals who, when faced with adversity, proved to be adaptable, resilient and ultimately survivors.

The first of these incredible stories focused on American journalist and adventurer Leonidas Hubbard and his ill-fated expedition to Labrador, Canada.

He then introduced the audience to Jim Bradley MBE, a British serviceman, and the tale of his remarkable escape from a Japanese prisoner of war camp during the Second World War. Mears drew upon the emotional conversations he shared with Jim and how not only the ingenuity and bravery of the soldiers led to their escape, but the endurance of individuals lead to their survival.

Mears’ storytelling style was captivating, informative and entertaining. It was heightened by accompanying photos, videos and map which gave great context and brought a more personal side to each story. Each tale was then enhanced with snippets of his own journeys and experiences.

A great evening for anyone who enjoys stories of survival, endurance an inspiring bravery combined with history.
