Hit musical Comedy Sister Act is coming to the Ipswich Regent next year.

The show is directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood with musical supervision and arrangements by Tony award-winning Sarah Travis.

“I’m truly thrilled to be directing and choreographing this all new production of Sister Act, a show I fell in love with when I saw it a few years ago,” said the Strictly Come Dancing judge.

“I’m currently putting together a dream creative team and can’t wait to get started next year on this hilarious and wonderful show”.

Based on the Whoopi Goldberg movie, disco diva Deloris Van Cartier is placed in protective custody in a convent after witnessing a murder. Disguised as a nun, she helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

The show opens at Leicester’s Curve next July.

Producer Jamie Wilson added: “I’m delighted to be presenting this all new production of Sister Act at both Curve, Leicester and on tour.

“I couldn’t think of a better theatre to be producing this show with and am thrilled Nikolai Foster (artistic director of Curve) and his team will be welcoming those singing nuns next summer.”

Sister Act features original music by eight-time Oscar and Tony Award winner Alan Menken. It runs from October 31-November 5, 2016, at the Ipswich Regent. Tickets go on sale Wednesday. The cast has yet to be announced.
