The final cast member is now in place for Stowmarket Operatic and Dramatic Society’s production of David Copperfield.
Two-year-old lhasa apso Bobby saw off four other dogs to win the part of Dora Copperfield’s beloved pet Jip
“I was looking around Needham Market when I was attracted into the Hall of Crafts and Antiques by a Victorian child’s size penny farthing bike parked outside. That’s when I saw Bobby, who belongs to owner of the centre Pauline Huggins and her son Joe,” says director David Vince.
“I immediately asked them to bring Bobby for an audition where he charmed everyone, especially Abi Whitefield who plays Copperfield’s wife and will work with him on stage. They get on very well together but Abi will have to be on top form to make sure Bobby doesn’t steal her scenes.”
SODS will perform the stage version of the Charles Dickens novel at Stowmarket’s John Peel Centre For Performing Arts from September 18–21 at 7.30pm nightly with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
Tickets are available from the John Peel Centre from 10am–2pm on weekdays or by calling 01449 774678. You can also book online at www.wegottickets.com
