Here we look at eight things you may not know about the stand-up comic.

1. Whitehall was a child actor in various television dramas. He went to school with the Twilight Saga’s Robert Pattinson. Whitehall often jokes about it, saying he resented Pattinson getting all the best acting roles in the school plays.

2. Whitehall’s character in Bad Education, Alfie, is said to have lost out to Emma Watson for the role of Hermione in Harry Potter. The comedian actually auditioned for the role of Harry for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
