An interactive art book for children based on the stories behind mythical creatures in Ipswich has been launched.
The Lion, the White Horse and the Mermaid project held over the February half term saw children aged from four to 15 learning about some of the statues of creatures placed around the town.
As part of the project, youngsters listened to a talk from volunteers of the tourist information centre, created their own artworks of the creatures, and engaged in drama activities to bring the creatures to life.
Now a collection of the artwork created has been compiled into an interactive online book – and users can add to and customise the pages.
Artist and organiser Bee Willey said: “I was really happy with how it turned out and we have had a lot of good comments on Facebook. There are lots of artists in this area but there isn’t a forum for them which shows what actually happens here. Part of it is trying to raise the profile of drawing as a way of seeing our town.”
